About Grading

In order to progress through a TaeKwonDo career, the practitioner must successfully obtain their next belt/rank by passing increasingly strenuous gradins.

Grade rank/structure:

10th Kup - White Belt
9th Kup - Yellow Tag
8th Kup - Yellow Belt
7th Kup - Green Tag
6th Kup - Green Belt
5th Kup - Blue Tag
4th Kup - Blue Belt
3rd Kup - Red Tag
2nd Kup - Red Belt
1st Kup - Black Tag

1st Dan/Poom (if under 15) - Black Belt/Black and Red Belt
2nd Dan/Poom
3rd Dan/Poom
4th Dan
5th Dan - Master
6th Dan
7th Dan
8th Dan - Grand Master
9th Dan

The time period between each grade will increase as a person progresses through the rank structure.

As a person progresses through the ranks, they will have proven their skills in TaeKwonDo and therefore be exposed to harder training, more difficult routines and techniques.

Each grading will be headed by a higher ranking instructor. The rank of the instructor depends on the grading. Lowe rank instructors will not be able to grade students up to the point as a Grand Master can.
